I decided to return to the decks after DJing in various venues across the North East of England, back in the 90s.
“Where has the time gone? It only seems like yesterday”.
Why? you may ask.
Life’s too short to waste & after doing things I don’t like doing, in order to go on living, that is to go on doing things, I don’t like doing, Is a complete waste of time. Stuck in a mind numbing soul destroying rat race. I now desire to do what makes me happy and forget the money.
Life can be tough sometimes & mine had to change before it was too late. While living with a visual impairment, battling through life threatening illness & spinal surgery which left me having to learn to walk again, as well as support my wife & daughter to cope after the loss of 2 new-born grandchildren. I began to suffer with severe depression, resulting in a mental breakdown within a stressful workplace. I became a broken man as a result facing financial ruin… The only thing I found that kept me from taking my own life at the time was my close family, friends & a strong desire to DJ.
Them combined brought me back from the brink of death. My passion for music as well as loved one’s support gave me the strength to come back fighting & live to DJ again. It brought me back to life when I felt nothing was left worth living for.
We all need to support mental awareness, unite against prejudice or discrimination & stand up for equality. Don’t turn your back on it. Depression is real not just in our head, it can take us out at any time & comes in many forms. Depression kills people. I’ve dealt with many things in my life, Depression, I found was the hardest to overcome.
My family & DJing makes me happy & If I’m happy, I’m alive.
